Young people use fpa
Commenting on research findings from the Association for Young People’s Health (AYPH), Julie Bentley, CEO fpa said:
“We’re delighted that fpa appears in the top three websites that young people have heard of and use. Like everyone else, young people want the facts and information about sexual health presented in a clear, straightforward way.
“We know that body image and self-esteem are very important issues for young people and how they feel about themselves can also affect how much they look after their own sexual health.
“Parents are a hugely influential source of information about sex and relationships for young people. But, parents can find the subject embarrassing, may not know all the recent information and worry about what age they talk to their children. That’s why fpa works with parents and carers to give them the information and skills they need.
“This evidence yet again highlights the importance that young people place on health education in school– begging the question why sex and relationships education is still not a statutory part of the national curriculum?”
